01Who we are
Handle is provided by 44pixels Limited ("44pixels", "we", "us" or "our"), a company registered in England and Wales, with its registered address at 99 Milton Keynes Business Centre, Foxhunter Drive, Linford Wood, Milton Keynes, MK14 6GD, United Kingdom. You can contact us about privacy at support@handle.inc.
This policy explains how we handle personal information when you visit handle.inc, join the Handle waitlist, use Handle for your business, or contact a business that uses Handle.
02Our role
- Visitors, waitlist signups and Handle customers. For information about you as a visitor, someone on the waitlist, or a business using Handle (and your team members), 44pixels is the controller. This policy explains how we use it.
- People who contact a business that uses Handle. When Handle answers a call or message for a business, the business is the controller of your information and we process it for them, as their processor or service provider. The business's own privacy notice applies, and requests about your information are best sent to the business. Section 6 explains more.
03Information we collect
When you visit handle.inc
Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request, in order to deliver the website and protect it from attacks. Cloudflare may set a strictly necessary security cookie to tell people from bots.
If you join the waitlist, your browser keeps a copy of what you submitted (in its local storage) until it reaches us, so nothing is lost if your connection drops. It is removed once it has been sent.
When you join the waitlist
We collect your email address and any answers you choose to give about your business, such as your website, team size, the challenges you want help with and how you use AI. We also record the page you signed up on, the website that referred you and any campaign tags in the link you followed.
Analytics and advertising
We use these tools on this website to understand how people find and use it, and to measure and improve our advertising:
- Google Analytics counts visits and shows which pages, links and campaigns bring people to us. It sets cookies (such as _ga) holding a random ID for your browser.
- PostHog counts page views and waitlist signups. It stores a random ID for your browser in a cookie or in local storage. We do not use it to record your screen or track your clicks.
- Meta Pixel measures how our ads on Facebook and Instagram perform, and helps Meta show our ads to people likely to be interested. It sets cookies (such as _fbp) and sends Meta the pages you visit, with your IP address and browser details.
When you join the waitlist, we tell these tools that a signup happened, both from your browser and from our servers. For Meta, this includes a hashed (scrambled) copy of your email address, your IP address and browser details, so Meta can match the signup to an ad you may have seen. We do not send the answers you give about your business to any of these tools.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or use a tracker blocker. You can also opt out of Google Analytics with Google's opt-out add-on, and control how Meta uses this information in your Meta ad preferences. Blocking these tools does not affect the website or the waitlist.
When you use Handle
- Account information: your name, email address, phone number, business name and details, login details, and the details of team members you invite.
- Business information and instructions: your services, prices, hours, service area, policies, and the settings and instructions you give Handle.
- Communications content: call recordings, transcripts, summaries, texts, emails, social and chat messages that Handle handles for you, and the contacts, bookings, quotes and invoices that come from them.
- Connected Accounts: information from services you connect, such as your calendar, email, social media accounts or Google Business Profile, limited to what the features you turn on need.
- Payment information: your subscription and billing history. Card details are handled by our payment providers or the app store, not stored by us.
- Device and usage information: your device type, operating system, app version, IP address, approximate location derived from it, and how you use the app, such as features used and errors.
- Support: anything you send us when you contact support.
04How we use it, and our legal bases
Where UK or EU data protection law applies, we rely on the following legal bases:
- To provide Handle (running your account, the AI agent, phone numbers, your website and Connected Accounts, billing and support): because it is necessary for our contract with you.
- To run the waitlist (recording your interest, sending the confirmation email, deciding who to invite and contacting you about early access): our legitimate interest in launching Handle to the businesses most likely to benefit.
- To understand visits and measure our advertising (the analytics and advertising tools in section 3): our legitimate interest in knowing how people find Handle and spending our marketing budget well.
- To keep Handle secure and working (preventing fraud and abuse, fixing faults, measuring performance with aggregated, de-identified data): our legitimate interests in running a safe, reliable service.
- To send product news and offers: your consent, or where the law allows, our legitimate interest in telling business customers about similar services. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- To meet legal obligations (tax, accounting, responding to lawful requests, telecoms and messaging registration): because the law requires it.
We do not use personal information for automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
05AI and model training
Handle uses AI models to understand calls and messages, speak with callers, and write summaries, replies, quotes and website content. To do this, relevant content is sent to the AI providers listed in section 7, over encrypted connections.
- We do not use your data, or your customers' data, to train AI models.
- Our agreements with our AI providers do not allow them to use the data we send to train their models.
- Our providers may only use the data to provide their service to us.
06If you contacted a business that uses Handle
When you call, text, email or message a business that uses Handle, Handle may answer for the business. It will usually tell you that you are speaking with an AI agent and that the call may be recorded. If you do not want to be recorded, you can end the call and contact the business another way.
We process your name, phone number, email, call recording, transcript, messages and anything else you share, for the business and on its instructions, so that it can respond to you, book your job and keep in touch with you. The business decides how long this is kept and who sees it. If you want to access, correct or delete this information, contact the business directly. If you contact us, we will pass your request on to the business and help it respond.
Text messages. A business may use Handle to text you about your inquiry or booking, for example to confirm an appointment or send a link you asked for. Reply STOP to any message to stop receiving them, or HELP for help. Message and data rates may apply. We do not share phone numbers or text messaging consent with third parties for their marketing.
07Who we share information with
We do not sell personal information for money. We share it only with:
- Telephony and messaging: Twilio, for phone numbers, calls and text messages.
- AI and voice: ElevenLabs (voice agent, speech recognition and voice), Deepgram (speech recognition), and OpenAI, Inception, Anthropic, Google and xAI (language models).
- Hosting and storage: Google Cloud and Firebase (our infrastructure, and storage of recordings, transcripts and account data) and Cloudflare (this website and content delivery).
- Email: SendGrid, for account and waitlist emails.
- Waitlist records: Google Workspace, where waitlist signups are stored.
- Analytics and advertising: Google (Google Analytics), PostHog (analytics, stored in the EU) and Meta (Meta Pixel and Conversions API), as described in section 3.
- Payments: our payment providers, and Apple or Google if you subscribe through their app stores.
- Services you connect: the providers of your Connected Accounts, when Handle acts in them at your request.
- People you contact through Handle: when Handle sends messages, quotes or invoices on your behalf.
- Professional advisers, authorities and buyers: our lawyers and accountants; regulators, carriers, courts or police where the law requires it or to protect people from harm or fraud; and a buyer or successor if our business is sold or merged.
Our providers are bound by contracts that require them to protect personal information and to use it only to provide their services to us. Meta and Google also use the information they receive from this website under their own privacy policies, which you can read at facebook.com/privacy/policy and policies.google.com/privacy.
08Google user data
If you connect a Google account (for example your Google Calendar, Gmail or Google Business Profile), Handle accesses it through Google's APIs only with your permission, and only to provide the features you have turned on. You can disconnect at any time in Handle or on your Google Account permissions page.
Handle's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. In particular:
- we use Google user data only to provide or improve the features you connected Handle for,
- we do not transfer or sell it, except as needed to provide those features, to comply with the law, or as part of a merger or acquisition,
- we do not use it for advertising,
- people do not read it unless you agree, it is needed for security or to comply with the law, or it has been aggregated and anonymized, and
- we do not use it to develop, train or improve AI or machine learning models.
09International transfers
We are based in the UK, and several of our providers are in the US and other countries. When personal information leaves the UK or EEA, we protect it with recognized safeguards, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum, the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, or an adequacy decision such as the UK-US Data Bridge.
10How long we keep information
- Waitlist information: until Handle launches to you and you sign up, or until you ask us to remove you. If you do not sign up, we delete it within 12 months of launch.
- Account information and business content (your business information, instructions, recordings, transcripts, messages and contacts, called "Your Content" in our Terms of Service): while your account is open and your subscription is active. We delete it within 90 days after you close your account or your subscription ends, whichever comes first, except where we must keep it by law or to resolve disputes. Backups are overwritten in the normal course.
- Billing records: for as long as tax and accounting law requires, usually six years in the UK.
- Security logs: for a limited period, as needed to investigate and prevent abuse.
Information about a business's customers and callers is kept on that business's instructions, and deleted with the business's account as above. The business can delete it sooner.
11Security
We protect personal information with measures including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls limited to people who need it, and security reviews of our providers. No system is completely secure. If a breach affects your personal information, we will tell you and the relevant regulators as the law requires.
12Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- access the personal information we hold about you,
- correct it,
- delete it,
- restrict or object to how we use it, including for direct marketing,
- receive it in a portable format, and
- withdraw your consent, where we rely on it.
To use any of these rights, email support@handle.inc. We may need to confirm your identity, and we will respond within one month, or sooner if the law requires. We will not treat you differently for using your rights.
UK and EEA. You can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) in the UK or your local data protection authority. We would appreciate the chance to resolve your concern first.
US states. Residents of California and other US states with privacy laws have the rights above to know, access, correct and delete personal information. We do not sell personal information for money, and we do not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you. Our use of the Meta Pixel and Meta's Conversions API (section 3) may count as "sharing" personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising under California law. To opt out, email support@handle.inc with "Do not share" in the subject and we will stop sharing information about you with Meta. You can also block the Meta Pixel in your browser. You may use an authorized agent to make a request.
Canada. You can access and correct your personal information, and complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
13Children
Handle is a service for businesses and is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
14Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. If we make material changes, we will tell you by email or in the app before they take effect. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
